Vinton, Louisiana, Site 1

Found September, 1, 2017

1) From I-10, exit at Toomey-Starks, and head north on 109, then west on 3112, until it turns into Steward Road. Go all the way to the end. There is a large stand on the south side of the culdesac.

2)Verified by LPFG

3) Passiflora incarnata

4) Access: appears to be public land (is not posted), likely parish road easement and utilities access. May be private. Is near posted/private land.

5) Locals are suspicious and we have been quasi-run off once. Granted, we were having a fine, noisy, laughter-filled time. It’s near a snaky, gator-filled bayou, and chock full of tree spiders. We have mostly clipped a few cuttings from here, although have propagated both rooted stock and cuttings from Vinton 1.

6) This is where the LPFG all began...

1) Close to Vinton 1. From I-10, exit at Toomey-Starks, and head north on 109, then west on 3112. On the north side of the road, before it turns into Steward Road (too far if you cross the little bridge), there is an embankment with numerous passion flower vines.

2) Verified by LPFG

3) Passiflora incarnata

4) Access: appears to be public land (road access; is not posted).

5) A “friendlier” spot than Vinton 1. It’s just the side of the road. I would not venture too far into the woods as it’s like private. Further from bayou than Vinton 1. Still likely snaky, lots of thorns, brambles, and spiders.

6) Miserable volume of mosquitos (always) and horse and deer flies (all summer).
